SoMa (South of Market) – Area of development in Downtown including new skyscrpaers.
Western Addition – Once the hotbed of the African-American culture with many Victorian buildings.
Haight – home of the famous hippie movement and still an area of a fantastic electic culture.
Getting around San Francisco is easy with transport plentiful and affordable. Walking is possible within districts but, due to the hilly topography, the usage of the cable cars, cabs and buses is highly recommended.
Must see attractions:
Alcatraz Island – don’t miss a trip to the world-famous prison which once housed some of the US’ most dangerous inmates. This attraction has limited daily availability which sells out well in advance so ensure you book your ticket package prior to travel. Travellers will need to confirm tickets usually up to 72 hours prior and collect by a given time on the day of the trip so pre-planning is vital!
Golden Gate Bridge – Ride, walk, sail under, fly over….whatever your preferred method of taking this iconic attraction in, just do not miss it!
Pier 39 – See the world famous sea lions and take in the varying levels of dining, entertainment, shopping and attractions.
